Student Access and Accommodation Services

Student Access and Accommodation Services provide approved accommodation services for students and guests with disabilities. Student Access obtains and maintains documentation of disability, certifies eligibility for services, determines reasonable accommodations, and develops plans for providing such accommodations. This is accomplished in a confidential manner to ensure equal opportunity for participation in all courses, programs, and activities offered by Illinois State.

Milner Library

Milner Library is an active partner in the teaching, learning, research, and service activities of Illinois State University. Milner librarians provide research assistance and library instruction customized to meet the needs of students and faculty. Reference collections include general, as well as subject-specific, print and electronic research tools including indexes, handbooks, dictionaries, bibliographies, directories, and bibliographic and full text databases.

Tutoring

The Julia N. Visor Academic Center is a division of University College that provides services and programs designed to assist students in their pursuit of academic excellence at Illinois State University. These services and programs have been developed to impact student retention:

• one-on-one writing assistance
• a computer lab that provides a quiet and supportive environment for study
• workshops designed to enhance student study techniques and academic skills
• group tutoring in general education courses
• one-on-one academic coaching

Advising

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers! Academic advisors are here to help you navigate your intended academic path while at Illinois State University. We are a great resource that can help you plan a course schedule and choose a major, and we also provide referrals to other resources and services on campus.

Student Counseling Services

If you are like most people you will encounter a number of life events while at ISU that will leave you confused, anxious, angry or sad. While life situations often work themselves out, sometimes they linger and require assistance. The staff at SCS is well trained to help you with issues ranging from homesickness and relationship difficulties to concerns such as depression and anxiety. For these reasons and many, many more, you can turn to Student Counseling Services.
